Welcome to Games Down Under!

Hello everybody!

The Games Down Under webblog is intented to faciliate communication between Australian/New Zealand games researchers (console-, pc-, board-, card- ...) and anyone else interested in games research and associated research fields.

Efforts are currently directed at starting up an Australian games research network (we have funding!), which at some point in the future will be established with an independent website. This webblog is therefore temporary in duration and will be recreated as soon as we are up and running.

The Australian games research network is being established to promote cohesion and collaboration among Australian game researchers and increase the visibility of game research to the broader community. The network will facilitate communication and information across institutions and also work towards the establishment of an Australian games conference and possibly an academic journal. The network will also work towards facilitating contact with the rapidly growing Australian games and creative industries environment.

We encourage Australian and New Zealand-based researchers with an interest in games, from technology, to design, to culture and anything in between, to join online and share information about themselves and their research. There is also an email list running, which you can join by contacting Dr. Yusuf Pisan at the University of Technology Sydney. We also encourage using the webblog for any other games-related purpose, including blurbs on current research projects etc.

Welcome!

Anders Tychsen, Yusuf Pisan & Andrew Stapleton
